Important Information to Display on your Company Letterhead

In Ireland, if you are running or own a business, then there is some very specific information that has got to be displayed on your Company Letterheads, and also on your company order forms and website, that you may not be aware of.

According to the Companies Acts, a summary of requirements are as follows:

Company Letterheads

Directors:
Directors of the company should be listed by name in the footer of the letterhead. The forename (or initials) and surnames are required, and any former forenames and surnames. Further to this, if any of their nationalities is not Irish, then their nationality should be detailed in brackets after their name. e.g. John Smith (British) S.P. Hernandez (Spanish).

Legal Title:
The full legal title of the company must also be listed (note that the only permissable abbreviations are “Ltd” for “Limited” , “Teo” for “Teoranta”, “Plc” for “Public Limited Company”)

Registration:
Also a requirement is the Company’s place of Registration (e.g. Registered in Dublin, Ireland or just Ireland) and the company registration number (as per certificate of incorporation).  Also required is the address of the registered office (where this is already shown on the document, the fact that it is the registered office must be indicated).

Status:
If exempt from using the company type – it must be stated that it is a limited liability company.

It is important to note that this information is also required on Company Order Forms, excluding the list of Directors, which is not required on Order Forms.

Invoices and Delivery Notes

It is not a requirement to include this information on Company Invoices, Statements or Delivery Notes, though it must be noted that this information would be helpful and perhaps should be included. Other information that may be relevant, in particular on these documents, would be the relevant bank account information such as SWIFT/BIC codes and IBAN.
